When shipping acrylic how to prevent it from breaking

Shipping acrylic

Whenever fragile items are sent, every sender or packager wants to ensure that breakages do not take place at all. Unfortunately, this can only be possible in a perfect world and it becomes pretty difficult to keep all items 100% safe. Acrylic trays are very common items which are being shipped on a regular basis, and care must be taken to ensure that these are not broken during transport of any form.

Transport via land

One of the ways to protect acrylic trays is to transport them and other acrylic items in temperature-controlled trucks. This ensures that the temperature remains constant and does not alter the strength of the material.

Transport via air

If trays and other acrylic items are being shipped to a different destination via air, care must be taken so that the shipment’s paint layer does not vibrate during transits. Here, transporters can make use of a rigid backing board to reduce vibrations greatly. Unless vibrations are significantly brought down, breakage chances of trays are high.

Packing materials should be of high quality

A business must carefully invest in packing materials which can transport shipments to customers without damage or scratches. For this, the choice of cheap materials may prove to be detrimental, as they would not only feel cheap but will also not be able to protect acrylic materials from breaking. As a business owner, you would not want to hear about regular product replacement requests and product returns, would you?

Ensure that you choose heavy-duty packaging boxes for your fragile shipments. Custom boxes and mailers are also available for transporting breakable items such as alcohol glasses, electronics, and expensive perfumes.

Bubble wrap must be used

It is a good idea to use bubble wrap when shipping acrylic it acts as spongy cushions. In case there is an empty void in the box, you may fill it up with bubble wrap or pieces of crumpled paper. The first layer of protection should be paper, after which it could be covered up with bubble wrap. Paper can be kept in place using scotch tape. Bubble wrap will help prevent any damage if the box is crushed..

Labeling boxes with fragile items

To prevent unnecessary accidents from happening, it is critical to label boxes FRAGILE, so that handlers take care while moving them around. ‘Handle with Care’ may also be written to serve the same purpose.

Objectives of packaging

Any package with acrylic or other items must be able to close without bulging out. It also should be possible to move the package in different directions without the items inside shifting places. If boxes are designed keeping the above points in mind, it would help to reduce the total packing time.

When these boxes ultimately arrive at your home or commercial space, nothing gives customers greater pleasure than seeing them secure within the boxes. For a company that constantly needs to ship fragile items from one part of the world to another, it pays to have a long-term relationship with a reliable shipping company.
